Parasites are organisms that can live in or on another living thing. External parasites live on a cat’s body and can be diagnosed by physical examination and skin tests. These include parasites such as fleas, ticks, ear mites, mange (sarcoptes, psoroptes, and demodex. MYTH: Ringworm aka Dermatophytosis is not a worm or parasite. Rather, it is a fungal infection on the surface of the skin.)

Parasite checks must be conducted early and often, because if left unchecked, parasites can make life miserable for you and your cat. Ask your veterinarian about parasite checks and vaccinations to prevent certain types of parasites.

Answer the questions below to determine if your cat is at risk of experiencing health issues related to external parasites.
