1 My 2 year old orange male tabby, who is up to date on his shots and healthy, has had an excessive amount of saliva lately, more when he is napping. This just started 3 days ago; I did however catch him drinking the fish tank water! Please help
2 My cat has a sore on her bottom lip and my Vet. said it's a granuloma. She's taking Clavamox® and Tresderm®. What is a granuloma and how serious can it become? My vet. said if it doesn't go away with the antibiotics they may have to do a biopsy on it!!! That worries me.

Excessive drooling may indicate a dental problem, an infection or even a sinus problem. If this continues, please take your cat to the veterinarian for an examination and evaluation. back to top

Feline eosinophilic granuloma complex (also known as rodent ulcer) is a condition unique to cats that occurs about three times more often in females than males. The ulcer begins as a yellow or pink spot that deepens and becomes an open sore. The exact cause is not known. Bacterial and viral infections along with immune deficiencies have all been implicated as possible causes. If left untreated the lip may become more ulcerated and swollen. If the inititial treatment is ineffective, your veterinarian may decide to biopsy the lesion to help decide the best method of treatment and to rule out the possibility that it may be a precancerous ulcer. back to top
