5 Are any supplements needed with any Purina One products?

1 Do I need to supplement my pet's diet? No, you should not need to supplement your pet’s diet if they are eating a complete and nutritionally balanced pet product. However, there are products designed for various life stages and health needs so make sure you pick the one that is most appropriate for your pet.

2 Is it okay to switch between pet food products/flavors? It is generally best to stick with one type and flavor of pet food. Frequent changes can lead to gastrointestinal upsets such as vomiting and/or diarrhea and should be avoided. If you do need to change food for a health or lifestyle reason, always change slowly from one food to another taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks to completely switch diets.

3 I have a puppy and an adult dog. Can they eat the same food? Generally speaking they should not. Puppies are growing and usually have higher activity levels; as a result, their nutritional needs are greater than most adult housedogs. Adult dogs often exercise less and have lower nutritional needs unless they are very active or working dogs. Therefore, I would suggest a food appropriate for each dog’s life stage.

4 My dog has kidney failure. I have been cooking meats, onion, garlic, potatoes, and then I put them in a food processor. I need a dry food to balance her diet so she doesn't have diarrhea from all the moisture & medicine without sodium added. Dogs that have kidney failure and must have restricted sodium diets need food that is especially designed for that purpose. Most dogs do not need any restriction on the consumption of sodium which is normally an essential component in the diet. In order to meet the needs of dogs with kidney failure, special veterinary diets have been formulated and marketed. Please contact your veterinarian for information on how to purchase these foods.
